About Linda Chapman

Linda Chapman has a national reputation as an artist and her work is in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. She received her B.F.A. from the University of Florida and her MFA from the University of South Florida. She had her first New York solo exhibition in 1984.

She is best known for her large-scale watercolor paintings often involving a combination of man-made and natural elements, animals, and references to art history and antiquities.

Pictures within pictures are common themes, and subjects such as tapestries, statues, maps, toys, flowers, books and shells are combined in tableaux that tell stories. She lived in New York for a decade, as well as spending time in Paris and Italy gathering inspiration for her paintings,
